Social Events
Student-Mentor Mixer
Building on the success of last year, this event will continue the ‘speed dating’ format with some modifications to allow for longer conversations. One goal is to help students understand what opportunities exist and how students can successfully pursue those opportunities. For information contact Shivonne Nesbit (shivonne.nesbit@oregonstate.edu).
Poster Social
A
traditional opportunity to converse with the presentors of up to 32 poster
displays while also renewing and creating professional aquaintences. Fisheries
networking at its finest! For poster information contact Demian Ebert (daebert@pbsj.com).
Awards Luncheon
More opportunities to network with colleagues while recognizing the
award-winning efforts and accomplishments of our members. Not to mention a free
lunch.
Business Meeting
To maximize convenience for everyone to attend, the annual Oregon Chapter AFS
Business Meeting will immediately follow the awards luncheon on Thursday. The
Business Meeting will not conflict with any other meeting activities. Chapter
committee meetings will follow the business meeting. Come learn how YOUR
chapter operates and become involved!
Banquet
Cap off your Thursday with another AFS tradition and opportunity for enjoyable
networking. The banquet begins with a social, allows a choice of menu
selections (see registration form), and is immediately followed by the raffle,
auction, and other festivities.
Raffle and Auction
Score some great deals on equipment, artwork, and adventures while supporting
the chapter. To contribute or assist, contact Christy Fellas (Christy.fellas@yahoo.com;
503-231-2307).
Texas-Hold’em “Fun-raiser”
Join the growing group of card-sharks that risk it all (well, a $25 donation to
the chapter, anyways) for a shot at some winning cards, wiley strategy, and
friendly competition. Starts with a brief lesson on how to play, experience
helpful but not necessary. Thanks to Tom Iverson (Tom.iverson@cbfwa.org)
for organizing this friendly fundraiser.
Jam
Session
Once again the Jam Session will occur after the Banguet and Auction on
Thursday night. In what is becoming an Oregon AFS tradition, we’ll again offer a
stage and mic to our musically-inclined members and see what kind of “Fishhead
Jam Session” ensues. Practice time has been set for Wednesday night before the
real show Thursday night following the banquet and auction. Steve Liebhardt (Steve_Liebhardt@or.blm.gov)
has tentatively agreed to organize this event. If you would like to assist him,
please contact Steve.
